Joint research on the behavior of castle stone walls with Nagasaki University.
In 2016, due to the Kumamoto earthquake, many stone walls within Kumamoto Castle collapsed; however, some did not completely collapse, and significant deformations such as bulging were observed. In response to this, monitoring was conducted on the stone walls where significant deformations were confirmed, using tilt sensors to understand the behavior of the stone walls during normal conditions and during earthquakes (abnormal conditions).

By monitoring the road surface and slope deformation areas, we achieve safe and secure vehicle passage!
Continuous opening cracks with good continuity were observed on the road surface, and significant extrusion deformation was noted on the embankment slope retaining wall. Monitoring was conducted on the embankment slope using inclination sensors, and three levels of management criteria were established. When each criterion was exceeded, corresponding countermeasures were considered, enabling safe and secure vehicle passage.

The collaboration between industry, government, and academia aimed to support the formulation of evacuation action plans by residents and to encourage them to recognize it as their own issue. To achieve this, we utilized "LINE" to send out alert emails, promoting the evacuation actions of residents.
